diy weekend

I’m so glad that the weekend is here!  I’m headed to the salon to update the do, and then off to houston to play with my family.

I wanted to share my latest sewing project.  Even though it’s a very easy pattern, I recruited the talents of my sister to do it for me assist me.  It’s been a while since I’ve had a successful clothes-sewing endeavor, so I thought I would get back to the basics.  I used this pattern with some fabric on sale for $1 a yard from jo-anns.  So all-in-all, I think it cost $5 and my time (and my sister’s sanity!).  But now that I’ve built up a little confidence again, I might just have to try my hand at a summer dress.

  1. Where do you buy your patterns so cheep? Trying to inspire myself to start sewing again soon, and I am usually more successful with a pattern.

    1. Hey Jenna,
Fields usually keeps their patterns on-sale for like 40% off all the time. And a few times a year they put them on for a dollar. I just checked and right now they have their butterick patterns 2 for $3. Maybe it’s the perfect time to give it a go! You’ll then have to send me a picture!

  2. Looks nice! I have that pattern, too, and had my mother-in-law help me with mine. However, I was pregnant when they were made and they don’t fit anymore. Maybe it is time to try again. 🙂

  3. geez, you have an eye for choosing material and I LOVE the handkerchiefs in your previous post and glass buttons.

Tell me what scene near the end of Alice in Wonderland was the one you didnt’ like – I have an idea but I just gotta know!
And really, if they pushed it, (but Burton likely won’t), he could do another “Alice” movie, ya’ know. Ok, so which scene did you not like?

    1. It was the dance. that stupid dance. And most noticeable was the music change. It pulled me right out of the moment and into a very bad place! 🙂
