DIY in the city

On Saturday we went to go see Wicked in Houston.  It was O-MAZING!  It was my first time to see it and my sister’s third or fourth.  It really is that good.

Knowing that I had the show coming up I decided to try my hand at sewing again.  It has been a while, but I’ve had this pattern forever (seriously, since 2006!).    At a  stop to Jo-Ann’s for my anniversary project I discovered this great navy, turquoise, and gold fabric.  I like the color palate and how it is a bit like an ikat.  And the best part…it was only $2.50 a yard (down from $10 a yard)!  I was quite pleased with the end result but it was a bear getting there.  I recruited the talents of my sis again and I think she did more of the sewing than I did.  It looked simple enough, but with several pieces needing to be lined, etc. it was easy to get overwhelmed.  I think I ended up with 24 pieces to put together for this little dress.  The original pattern calls for more of a tea length skirt, but I wanted to go short for the summer and I’m glad I did!

  1. Super Cute!!!! Sometimes teamwork is the best way to go. 😉 It looks great on you. Enjoy your flirty summer dress!
