Writers: prepare your pens!  NPR has another flash-fiction (or as they say Three Minute Fiction) contest running right now.  You are limited to 600 words and you must use the opening line:

“Some people swore that the house was haunted.”

And you must close with:

“Nothing was ever the same again after that.”

Many events can and will transpire between those lines.  We’ve got until September 26; here are the official rules.  I’ve already got a few ideas.
