I have so many childhood memories at the beach. Unfortunately the state park we frequented was damaged during hurricane Rita and then demolished during Ike. We live only 15 minutes from the ocean as the crow flies. So it was an easy “vacation” destination. My parents could even commute back and forth to work, taking turns with days off. Because of this, I am inextricably linked to the sea — salt water, sticky breezes, and in our parts of the world — tar on your feet. It was quite strange to be on a lake the size of Lake Michigan for so many years because, as I always told the hubs, it didn’t smell right. But now that we’re close again, all is right.
