what food sounds like

If you’re anything like me, half of the joy of cooking (or baking) is the music that accompanies the task.  Typically when I’m in the mood to cook, or particularly when entertaining guests, the right music can inspire the dish or typically vice versa.  (I mean, doesn’t everyone listen to Iron and Wine when making Apple Crisp in the fall?)  So it is no surprise that I have fallen in love with the blog Turntable Kitchen.  San Francisco creators Kasey and Matthew Hickey decided to fuse their passions of music and food.  In their own words, “We feature recipes with a focus on local, fresh ingredients, hand-selected ‘Musical Pairings,’ album reviews and musings on our city livin’ and country hoppin’ adventures. Most importantly, we aim to introduce food lovers to music and vice versa.”

Over in this space, you’ve got it all: interesting recipes, unique music, and beautiful photos to boot.  A daily read, indeed.

  2. Ironically I was listening to Sea Lion Woman while making Cranes applesauce yesterday. Gotta say the tunes definitely makes the food process enjoyable.
