I have two new favorite things right now that I seem to want to wear every day. I got the necklace a few weeks back from an antique store ($5) and then just added the bead myself. And the boots were a lovely little post-Christmas sale pick me up. I must say that I saw the boots pre-holiday madness and I told myself I needed to just wait. I couldn’t afford them. And for once, I actually listened to myself so I waited. Having received a little extra holiday cheer in the form of a few greenbacks, I thought I would press my luck to see if they still any left. Wouldn’t you know it, there was one pair left and in my size! AND they were 40% off!!! So with my gift certificate they cost me $1.26. Not bad.
tomorrow is my friend Amy‘s birthday. I’ve been jonesing to make some jewelry again and this was the perfect opportunity. I’ve had these beads for a while but I hadn’t thought about using them together until now. I’m totally into long necklaces right now, and this one hits just below the bust line. And I really like the wooden beads with iridescent green ones. The southerner in me couldn’t resist making the matching earrings. (I am definitely my mother’s daughter.) I can see her wearing this with a bold floral or subdued solid. I hope she likes it!
*****Well she loved it…and then I found this little number that I thought would go perfectly!
I really, really want some Joel Dewberry fabric, particularly from his Avery Collection. I especially like the woodgrain print. It reminds me of a jewelry set I made my friend Meg. But alas, want is not need and since I crafted so much over the holiday I’ve taken a bit of a break. But I’m already making a list of spring projects.
